GPRS (Mobile Office) FAQ's

1. What is GPRS?

GPRS refers to General Packet Radio Service - speeds of up to 56-114 kbit/s for GPRS and EDGE can carry data speeds up to 236.8 kbit/s.(speed supported is phone dependent).

 

2. What are the benefits of GPRS?

You can enjoy the convenience of accessing Internet wherever you are as voice and data sessions can be conducted simultaneously.

 

3. How can I activate GPRS?

Dial 154 & our Customer care agent will explain about GPRS. If customer is interested in GPRS, our CC agent will send an SMS to the customer. Customer has to forward the same SMS to 999 short code The GPRS will be activated within 24 hours and the OAT setting will send automatically to your handset.

 

4. What can I do with GPRS?
There are several applications that customers can enjoy with GPRS service. They are
  • Access to the Internet;
  • Access emails, news, stock info., etc
5. What is the speed for GPRS access?

The technology enables a support of a maximum speed of 115kbps, while the actual speed is equipment dependent.

 

6. What are the services available on GPRS?

GPRS Data Services which allow customers to surf the Internet from their laptops using a GPRS enabled device as a modem.

 

7. What do I need to access to GPRS?

For AWCC GPRS (Mobile Office), you need a WAP or HTML – enabled GPRS device for the necessary handset settings/configurations to begin For Data Service, you need a GPRS device, a data cable or Blue-tooth or infra-red connection between the GPRS device and laptop and ensure that your device is configured with GPRS settings. To receive setting call Customer care.

 

8. Do I need to subscribe to any service plans to enjoy GPRS services?

No, GPRS is offered as a Value-added service to your mobile phone.

 

9. How will I be charged for using AWCC Mobile Office on GPRS?

There will be no registration charges for customers. You will be charged on a monthly basis of 999 AF. For unlimited data usage.

 

10. Can I answer an incoming call while accessing GPRS Internet?

Yes, customer can still answer incoming voice calls while accessing the Internet. The GPRS session will be put on hold and users can resume the data session after the voice conversation is over. As long as you are not downloading files from the Internet, you will still be able to answer and make calls.

 

11. Can I access GPRS services while roaming?

No, AWCC is not offering any GPRS services for in roamers & out roamers.

12. What is OTA setting?

OTA means Over The Air. AWCC will send the GPRS setting directly to the handset via OTA.

 

13. What is should do after I received the OTA settings?
fter received the OTA setting key in the password code 1111 and save the GPRS settings
